Social Debate Project

This project will encourage open discussions and debates about local issues as well issues faced by Indian-Americans.

The purpose of the MICS Heritage Debate project is to connect the youth to their heritage roots of ancient India while learning public speaking skills. MICS will collaborate with the Key2Finnesse and Balagokulam organizations, and the project will be lead by Vidhi Ghosalkar and Vijaya Sastri.

Youth members will go through a rigorous curriculum of public speaking skills. Training will be provided by students who are approved by the organization leaders. MICS youth will sign up for classes through the MICS website and will be assigned to MICS-Heritage Debate class according to their skills. Indian-heritage prompts are shared with the organization leaders, and the youth will present their skills once a month in a ZOOM / Live-Facebook forum. The training classes will be held once a week on Zoom. Each video-presentation is limited to 1.5min - 3min.
