MICs Senior Social Hub
WHAT IS A MICS Senior Social Hub
The Senior Social Hub is essentially a day-care style center for senior citizens (55+), running once a week as a full-day support and engagement system.
Why it matters
• Seniors in our community need consistent support beyond occasional gatherings.
• The Hub provides a structured, dignified, and joyful environment for them.
• It creates a meaningful platform for adults and youth to serve, volunteer, and lead, shaping a sustainable system of care for our elders.
• It does not restrict seniors in their diet or lifestyle.
Key elements of the Senior Social HuB
• Morning Tea & Snacks (10:00 AM)
• Lunch (12:00 PM) – with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options
• Evening Tea & Snacks (3:00 PM)
• Daytime activities organized and facilitated by MICS volunteers
• Flexible participation: seniors may drop in any time and leave when they wish
• Transportation and mobility needs coordinated by MICS
Cost structure
• A monthly subscription fee may apply depending on the city and venue selected.
• Food cost needs to be paid by seniors, but could be subsidized if sponsored by local businesses or community seniors.
The MICS Senior Social Hub is a structured, full-day weekly experience designed to create both a support system for seniors and a hub for volunteering. In contrast, the monthly social get-together is a shorter, informal 1–2 hour gathering with light refreshments, focused mainly on casual socializing.
