OUR JOURNEY

MICS began in March 2020, during one of the greatest crises of our time - the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as an urgent response to help Indian-American individuals and families facing medical, financial, emotional, legal, immigration, and personal crises has grown into a broader community-service movement. MICS supports those who may not have a strong local network - seniors facing loneliness, families facing loss or financial hardship, women facing abuse or divorce-related challenges, job seekers, immigrants, international students, and community members in life crisis. Over time, MICS has expanded beyond crisis relief to build long-term community support through Senior Social Hubs, youth internship and mentorship opportunities, and business-community connections. At MICS, we serve because they are also someone's parents, someone's brothers and sisters, and someone's children. In a foreign country, where many have limited local support, MICS stands as an extended community family. MICS exists so that no one feels alone when life becomes overwhelming.

Vision

Community for the Community

MICS exists to help build a united, resilient, and respected Indian-American community in Michigan - a community that protects, supports, and uplifts its people with dignity. Our guiding vision is simple and bold: "Community for the Community." We built this vision because a community's true strength is not measured by wealth or size - it is measured by how it responds when one of its own is struggling.

MICS is founded on a collective commitment to:

● Show up in crisis with speed, discretion, and compassion
● Build belonging and inclusion, so no one feels isolated
● Strengthen a distinct Indian-American identity rooted in heritage and shared values
● Create trusted pathways for stability, well-being, and community care
● Convert goodwill into organized action through task forces and collaborations

MICS operates through dedicated task forces that identify real needs, mobilize volunteers, partner with trusted organizations, and deliver results - so support is not accidental, but dependable.

Our long-term vision: a Michigan Indian-American community that is united and confident - because it takes care of its people.
